Red Robin's Tip-A-Cop

A few days ago I received an e-mail about Red Robin's Tip-A-Cop fundraiser, so we decided to go have dinner there after Jake's baseball game - he was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored! Anyways, I tried their new blueberry pomegranate limeade beverage which had partially frozen blueberries in the drinks. I let Kira have a taste since blueberries are full of antioxidants - this is what happened (watch the video)...

After dinner the Sheriff showed the boys his car - incidentally he served us drinks when we first got there. He let the boys sit in the driver's seat and played with the siren, needless to say they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Art Extravaganza...Karate...Little League

Jake showing off his artwork at the Art Extravaganza today -kiddie art show at Martha Lake Elementary school.

New picture of the boys at Karate lessons. They received their uniforms so now they look official. Jake really wants to learn how to break wood planks - he's got quite a ways to go.

Jake had his first official little league baseball game this last monday night. The weather wasn't very cooperative - starting to sprinkle as the game started and evetually poured as the end thankfully ended.

Cold morning at the park

We met up with Jordan and Lei at the park again this last sunday. Even though it didn't rain, it was freezing cold. Here's Jonah sitting on the see-saw with Jordan. I just think she's adorable.

Kira and I swinging. She LOVED it, she kept giggling as we were swinging.

She LOVED the slide too. What can I say, she's a wild child.

The little boy, Milo (I think that's his name), was very interested in our little Kira baby. He is 16months old and all he wanted to do that morning was to sit there and stare at her. Kira wasn't that friendly to him though, I think she wanted to play more than she wanted to make friends. What a heart breaker she's gonna be.

Kira riding on the "boat". I was really scared that she'd fall off, but she did great. Just like everything else, she had a giant smile on her face when the "boat" was moving.

Karate Chop

Jake and Jonah had their first trial Karate/Kung Fu class yesterday. They did really well and we'll more than likely continue with it. We have our second class tomorrow, I can't wait. I think it'll be great, especially for Jonah, to have this kind of outlet. Plus, I think it'll really teach them to be focused and to have self-discipline, if they stick to it that is. I will put video clips on the blog once I figure out how to do that too. Sorry the pictures are so fuzzy - will try better next time.

Kira's 1 year check-up

Kira went for her first year check-up. Here's her stats:

Weight: 19lb 7oz = ~25th percentile
Height: 28 3/4in = ~50th percentile
Her head circumference is ~75th percentile

What's interesting is that though Kira has been hovering around the 50th percentile for everything since birth, now her weight percentile has dropped. She's only gained 1.5lb in the last 3 months - this made our pediatrician a bit concerned.

HOWEVER...

Babies who are breastfed for an extended period of time have a slightly different growth pattern than if they aren't. So - according to the growth chart for breastfed baby girls, her weight is right around average. Even though I brought this up with the pediatrician, she still wants us to feed Kira meals with higher fat content. She said to incorporate 1-2 teaspoons of extra fat (olive oil or butter) per serving/meal. Then she would like to have Kira weighed again in 1-2 months to see whether there's any weight gain. I'll try to fatten her up a bit, but I think she's pretty normal though, we'll see how things goes. If you know me, you'll know that I love butter, so I have no problem feeding it to Kira.

Kira's First Birthday!

Well - she turned 1 year old today. My little girl is growing up so fast, I can't believe how short last year seemed. It's really bitter sweet, in just a blink of an eye, she's all of a sudden 1 year old! I just wished that I didn't have to work so much so that I could spend more time with her and the boys. We didn't really get to do a big celebration today since Jake had baseball practice and all, but we will on saturday. After Jake got home from baseball practice, it was almost 8pm. We sang her happy birthday and I helped her blew out her very first candle. She was really tired since she didn't have a late nap, but she ate some cake and had a good time.

Jonah's Playdate

Jordan's mom, Stephanie, thought that it'd be great to get together outside of daycare for the kids to have a playdate. So, Jonah and Jordan met at Logan Park this morning along with their pal Lei (right). Aren't they adorable?

I love this picture. They look like they're into each other. Stephanie said that whoever get to preschool first always saves a chair for the other person. They're so sweet. I think Jonah might be in love :)

While the boys were out playing, I took Kira to get some professional photos taken. She loved every second of it, she's a natural model. After we got home, I decided to take some more pictures of her, just can't resist those big brown eyes and pretty smile of hers.

I took this picture of Jonah and Kira, he was giving her kisses. I could never time it right to get both of them kissing each other - they probably don't want to have that to remember for the rest of their lives anyways.

Baby Bunny

We saw these bunny ears at Target and thought Kira definitely needed them. She tried it on at the store and lots of people thought the same. Isn't she the most adorable bunny ever?!

She really wasn't having it when I tried to take her pictures, she kept taking the bunny ears off. But I got a couple of good ones with Mike's help.

Jake's first dance

Jacob's school had a dance the last friday. Our neighbor was the organizer and her huband was the DJ. Our other neigher, with whom Jake is practically inseparable with outside of school, asked us to go, so we went. It was funny seeing him dance and socialize with his friends. It's a side of him that I haven't had much chance to see. He was trying to break dance, it was hilarious, he did a wonderful job.
